A Better You with Better Beliefs

We are belief-making all the time. We are forever interpreting everything we hear others say and everything we experience and feel and then we carry around those interpretations wrapped up in our beliefs.

Have you ever believed something as true only to find out later that it wasn’t?  Have you ever believe something so intently that no one could sway your mind?

Of course, you have. We all have. It just comes with the territory of being human.  Unfortunatly, our beliefs can often be the root of our problems.   People aren’t the problem – it’s the frame of reference or belief that often takes us off themost effective path for our lives.

When you undertake a path of personal leadership one of the pieces of the learning path is to reveiw what you believe and to do assessments of your beliefs to see if they are in alignment with your best self.

Here are some examples of some simple assessments you can ask yourself to assess and perhaps even challenge your own beliefs:

Congruence Assessment:   Does this belief align in congruence with my heart, and my actions?   Is it alignment with my goals, and my values?

Reality Assessment: Does this belief fit with what I already know of reality?  How likely is it to be true?

Effectiveness Assessment: Will this belief help me to be more productive and effective?

Ecological Assessment: Will this belief cause any greater success or failure in any part of my life?   Will it affect my health? My relationships?  My envirironment? My work? My finances? etc…

Focusing Assessment: Will focusing on this belief will it exclude anything else?  Will it be limiting?

Mind Reading Assessent: Is this belief made up from an assumption? or intutions with out actually checking it out? Have I over-trusted my intuition?

Emotional Assessment:  Do I believe my emotions relating to this belief are a demonstration of who I am as a person?  Do I believe I should follow this belief as a result of what I feel?

Truth Assessment: How specifically do I know this is true?

Comparison Assessment:   When I believe this – Who or what am I referencing?
