7 Ways to Contribute More as a Personal Leader

Seeds of Personal LeadershipAs a personal leader you may have already identified you have a greater potential for being of service in the world.  Whether it is in your business, your community, or in your family.

There are certain things that a personal leader does, and ways that a personal leader focuses that may differentiate them from those who have no desire to be a personal leader.

Personal Leaders recognize there is more.  More out there.  More inside.  More possible.   It is this spark of  “more” that often calls someone to pursue a path of personal leadership.  It is that  awareness they are looking for extra-ordinary rather than ordinary.

In no place does this show up more – than in the area of contribution.   Being of service is the seed that is within all personal leaders.  It is the call to make a contribution to the world in some way – that sets personal leaders apart.

Here are 7 ways to ramp things up so you can contribute  even more as a personal leader:

1. More Clarity of Vision

Having a clear , concise and evolving vision is one of the gifts a personal leader brings to the table.  When you have a clear – can almost taste it  – kind of vision – you have a resource that is both enrolling and attractive to followers – you also have a resource for your own self inspiration.

A crystal clear vision will inspire both yourself and those around you.

In the details of a clear vision – are blessings and gifts.  One example of a gift is the small milestones and success moments.   The big ones – you could normally recognize, but with out the crystal clear vision – you would have never identified the smaller opportunities to celebrate.   It’s in these small ongoing celebrations that we can gain a pretty super gift of fulfillment.

It’s in the details of the vision that you will also find the “spirit” of the vision.  It is this aliveness that will bring others in to support the vision.

2. More Focus

Having more focus on some things – means there are things you will no longer focus on. Our nervous systems only have so much capacity for focus.  So, why not choose those things that are most meaningful to you and where you can create the biggest contribution in your life.

It is in the focused choosing, that will determine the kind of person you are, the kind of lifestyle you will lead, and the kind of life you will experience.    Choosing which values you will honour, choosing which relationships you will nuture,  choosing which goals you will pursue or choosing which skills you will master.

When we don’t choose, and we just allow life to happen to us, rather than consciously co-create our lives – is when we loose focus,  loose efficiency – and more than anything, we loose our effectiveness.  Ordinary isn’t effective.  Not in this day and age anyway.

3.More Mastery

You can use your capacity to focus in on particular skills or behaviours.  You can set an intention to pursue mastery. You can commit yourself to the practice of that mastery.  When you do those things – you create a mindset that honors learning, experiencing and flow.

The by-products of pursuing mastery are numerous.   You will gain trust of those around you as you role model behavior they are inspired by.  You will inspire yourself as you move into that place of competence where it becomes like art.  More than anything though – it is in the practice of pursuing mastery that we can find the most fun.   Imagine that.  Totally enjoying everything you do.

4.More Balance

Its about balancing the inward and outward flow of energy.  Knowing exactly where and how you are going to re-charge your own batteries is like the under pinning to how much you can contribute as a personal leader.

Without full a full tank – what you contribute will be a lesser essence of you.   When you give empathy to another for example, and you also are needing empathy; the empathy you give will be watered down.  It’s  in the practice of having overflowing energy tanks that we can do our best work as personal leaders.

This is why self-care is so critical to a personal leader.

5.More Heart

When you have an open heart, your capacity for compassion expands.  What a tremendous way to be of service in the world – from a place of great compassion.

When you bring love, caring and compassion into your own heart, you see more perspectives than perhaps would have seen otherwise.  You can more easily see the needs (spoken and unspoken) of others, and you can really sense what is needed most in the world.

It is with this inner congruence that you can make a real difference.

6.More Ease

When you are in greater ease in your life you are in the flow zone.   It is from within this flow zone that you are most enrolling and most attractive as a role model. Being a role-model  is a super way to make a contribution.   As you are in flow – others  who are around you will find it easier to find their ease as well.

Things like expanding your capacity to feel things more fully and practicing the pursuit of mastery are things that will bring you closer to being in the flow zone.   Ease happens when you have just the right amount of new challenge in your life and you have all the resources you need to maneuver the challenges.

7. More Presence

Personal presence is a by-product of a number of things.  Lightness and awareness for example are two things on the top of the list.  Lightness comes from an open heart, and open mind, an being in a place of allowing, response and joyfulness.  Awareness comes from removing any barriers from knowing you are one.  One with everything.

You might think these states are lofty goals.  The truth is however, they are obtainable with practice, and with focus.
