7 Ways to See Yourself More Fully as a Personal Leader – part one

Personal Leadership Development is directly related to the capacity to see yourself fully with nonjudgmental awareness.

Here are the first 3 of the 7 areas were it can be beneficial to focus:

1. Your Values

Your own Personal Leadership Values are those things you assign as important.  They are those things you  say are important and you equally behave as if they are.  Those things you feel are important and you wish you honoured them more.   Or they can even be ones that you behave as if they are important  – even  if they may actually be someone else’s values. (family values)(cultural values).

Two of the things that can be looked at more closely are to 1) notice if you are honouring the values you wish to honour and  2) whether or not you are honouring them fully.  Fully honouring your values is one way to increase your level of life fulfillment.  You will also want to notice if you honour values by default, old values from your past, or others values.   Values are one of those things when misaligned that can cause in-congruence within us.   If part of your desire is to become more fulfilled, more authentic as a leader in your life, then spending time becoming more aware of your values and of how to honour them is key.

2. Your Gifts and Strengths

Your gifts and strengths are those things you do or think about with ease.  In your mind they are well rehearsed – they are a natural part of who you are.     Acknowledging and appreciating your own unique gifts can be one of those places to see yourself more fully.  Often we underplay and under acknowledge and under appreciate those things that come easier to us, and instead put tremendous energy into those things that instead we need to work harder at.

3. Your Dreams

In a busy life, one of the first things that get pushed aside is dreams.   We often get caught up in the details of living, providing, leading -that our own dreams become less important somehow.  Personal Leaders are inspiring as role models.  Modeling what it is like to pursue your dreams shares experiences of hope, of joy and of imagination with the world.
